Steps to Follow For Applying the Woodoc Exterior Deck Dressing

Preparation

  1. General: Ensure wood is clean, dry, and smooth. Never wash or wipe wood with water before application.
  2. New Wood: Sand until smooth, remove dust with a clean, dry cloth, then wipe with mineral turpentine.
  3. Previously Varnished/Sealed Wood: Remove varnish by sanding or using paint stripper. Neutralize paint stripper according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Sand weathered wood to remove all traces of weathering, allow wood to dry completely, sand until smooth, remove dust with a clean, dry cloth, then wipe with mineral turpentine.
  4. Oiled Wood: Sand until smooth, scrub well with SteelWool and mineral turpentine, clean off residue with a clean, dry cloth, and allow the surface to dry.
  5. Wood Previously Treated with Woodoc Deck Dressing: Scrub well with SteelWool/stiff brush and mineral turpentine, clean off residue with a clean, dry cloth, and allow the surface to dry.

How to Apply the Woodoc Exterior Deck Dressing

  1. Stir very well before and during application to ensure colour consistency. Do not shake or dilute the product.
  2. Apply with a good-quality brush. Apply the first coat until the surface remains evenly glossy for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Apply more product to dull/dry areas and allow the coat to dry completely.
  4. Apply two more coats in the same way. Always apply a minimum of three coats.
  5. Ensure all aspects of the wood are treated, especially the end grain. The different coats may take up to 48 hours to dry, depending on the weather. If possible, apply the first coat before assembling the deck.

Cleanup

  • Caution: As the product does not form a hard film on the surface, clothing, shoes, and furniture cushions could be affected for at least 48 hours after application.
  • Store the product in a dry, covered area at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C.
  • Avoid large changes in temperature and humidity in the storage environment.
