This Dual Purpose Casting Resin is made to be simple and easy to use. The product comes with two parts: resin and hardener. When you mix them, a chemical reaction takes place, gradually turning the liquid resin into a solid plastic. Once the resin and hardener are mixed with the correct ratio, the resin dries to a smooth, clear, and glossy surface.

This casting resin can be used with:

• Silicone moulds to cast any shape you want.
• Colour pigments like PoxyArt (for solid colouring) or Alcohol Inks such as Pinata Alcohol Ink (for see-through colouring).
• Flakes, glitter and pearlescent powders like PearlEx.
• Inorganic matter such as embellishments or artificial plants and flowers.
• Capturing flowers etc.

Additionally, with this casting resin, you’ll spend less time worrying about the millions of things that can go wrong with resin and more time just enjoying your creative craft and its results.

Super simple steps to follow for beautiful results

Follow these easy steps to have the best creative experience and achieve beautiful results with the casting resin:

Preparation

• Protect your work surface with a drop sheet or cloth.
• Make sure all safety precautions are understood and in place, including personal protective equipment such as gloves and respirator.
• Clean all working equipment such as moulds, mixing cups, flowers or embellishments etc. with acetone.
• Make sure all your supplies including colourants, flowers, resin, hardener, moulds, and cups etc are within reach.
• Have a scale or other appropriate measuring tools to measure exact amounts of hardener and resin.

Mixing the resin

• Firstly, weigh the amount of resin that you are going to use. This is critical so that you can determine the correct amount of hardener to use.
• Secondly, mix in your colourants, glitters or PearlEx powder (whichever additives you are going with) into the resin. NB – DO NOT PREPARE THE RESIN IN ITS CONTAINER. POUR THE RESIN FROM ITS CONTAINER INTO A SILICONE MIXING CUP. ALWAYS MIX/PREPARE THE RESIN IN A SILICONE MIXING CUP.
• Thirdly, add hardener to the resin and gently mix/stir with craft sticks or ice cream-type sticks. The ratio of hardener to resin is absolutely critical for achieving the desired results. The appropriate ratio of hardener to resin is 1% – 3% hardener of resin weight. The more hardener you add (up to a maximum of 3% of the resin weight) the quicker the resin will cure/dry. Never exceed the ratio of 3% hardener of resin weight. For example: if you use 100 grams of resin, you can add 1g -3g (max) of hardener.
• Fourthly, once the resin and hardener are combined, gently tap your container with the resin/hardener mix against your work surface to release bubbles until all bubbles are released.
• Finally, you can cast the resin into your mould.

Please refer to the detailed instructions attached to the resin container for instructions on casting with flowers and other items you wish to embed in the resin.

Safety first

Please read, understand and follow all safety guidelines stipulated in the usage instructions attached to the resin container. The following safety measures are critical for safe use:

• Use only a silicone cup for mixing resin and hardener. Never use polystyrene cups with this resin as the resin will dissolve and react with polystyrene.
• Never mix the resin and hardener in the resin container. Always pour the resin out of the container into a mixing cup to mix with the hardener.
• The reaction between the resin and hardener produces heat.
• We highly recommend using gloves, safety glasses (eye protection) and a mask or respirator when working with resin.
• Only work with this resin in an open room with good ventilation.
• Follow all safety instructions as specified in the attached instructions.
