Steps to Follow for Applying the Bostik Home Silicone Sealant
Preparation:
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or contaminants.
Use acetone for degreasing metals or lightly abrade plastics for better adhesion.
Apply backing material for deep cavities and ensure any paint is fully cured.
How to Apply the Bostik Home Silicone Sealant:
Cut the nozzle tip to desired bead size and attach it to the tube or cartridge.
Apply at a slight angle in a continuous, smooth bead along the prepared joint.
Use a rounded tool within 3-5 minutes to smooth down the sealant before it skins.
Cleanup:
Remove excess silicone immediately before curing.
Wipe uncured sealant from hands or tools with turpentine or paraffin.
If on fabric, use Low Aromatic Cleaning Benzine (LACB) after checking colour fastness.
